Babe Ruth Auction to Benefit Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/6/2016
The 1915 American League champion Boston Red Sox played their regular-season home schedule in Fenway, but the prudent decision was made to shift their portion of World Series hosting dates to the newer Braves Field, which could accommodate an additional five thousand spectators. Only two games were played in Boston that October – both of them decided on 2-1 victories for the Sox. Presented here is a program pertinent to one of those victories at Braves Field. Well-preserved over a full century, this publication is characterized by mild corner wear and a vertical pocket fold at center. The piece remains firmly bound and admirably clean. (The rookie Babe Ruth, incidentally, made just one appearance in this World Series, but it was in Philadelphia.) Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price of this lot and all lots in this auction to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.
