Encapsulated and assessed "Authentic" by SGC. An incredibly elusive memento of the 1918 World Series, this rare "Press Ticket" has maintained a bright and crisp obverse presentation with a bit of scrapbook adhesive on its unprinted back. The artifact commemorates one of the Cubs’ two victories in that Championship competition second game, played at Comiskey Park in Chicago. In that game, the Cubs' "Lefty" Tyler bested the Red Sox' Joe Bush with a complete game victory. (Babe Ruth was the starting pitcher in Games 1 and 4 of the 1918 Series, and he was the winner in both contests. Ultimately, his Red Sox took the Championship, four games to two.) Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price of this lot and all lots in this auction to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.
