Encapsulated and assessed "Authentic" by PSA. This is one of just three examples, in total, recorded in PSA's census reporting. Evicted by their Upper Manhattan landlords in the wake of Babe Ruth's popularity and the resultant attendance swing in the pinstripers' favor, the New York Yankees (in large part, on the income attributed to Ruth's presence, alone) opened their own venue in 1923. In a head-to-head showdown against their former Polo Grounds stadium-mates that October, the Bronx Bombers reigned supreme, thus beginning a World Series dynasty that has since gone unrivaled. Offered is a seldom-seen stub from Game 4 of that historically significant World Series. Originally purchased at the Polo Grounds by one of the 46,302 spectators on October 13, 1923, this piece witnessed an 8-4 Yankee victory, wherein Babe Ruth doubled and walked twice to account for a pair of runs scored. Ruth went 7 for 19 (a .368 average) with three homers and in the 1923 Yankees' four-games-to-two World Series triumph over their cross-town rivals. Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price of this lot and all lots in this auction to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.
