Lot #1924 in the famous 1999 Barry Halper Collection auction was McCarthy's '38 Cincinnati A.S. Game tie-clip and pendant. As seen here, that very pendant—an ornate 10K-gold Dieges & Clust creation with intricate details, a 5-pt. diamond, blue enameling and the engraving "JOE MCCARTHY / MANAGER"—was ultimately mounted onto a modern 10K-gold, size-12 ring band with relevant shank designs. Beautiful Near Mint condition. Accompanied by D&C's original 10K-gold tie clip and chain, as well as photocopies of the Sotheby's catalog description and Halper's 11/15/99 LOA reading, "I certify that the Joe McCarthy 1938 All Star tie clip, which was Lot #1924 at the September, 1999 Barry Halper Auction at Sotheby's, is authentic. I obtained this All Star keepsake personally from Joe McCarthy in 1975."
