"Hondo" was the guts of the Boston Celtics, leading the team to NBA Championships in half of his 16 years with the club. Havilcek scored 1,000 or more points every season he played and he's the Celtics all-time leader in both points and games played.       This classic Celtics road jersey was worn by the Boston legend during the 1977-78 season as part of his Hall of Fame career. The green durene jersey has "CELTICS" across the chest and Havilcek's number "17" below in white tackle twill. Sand-Knit label is sewn in the lower left front tail and its style is that used from 1972 to 1978 era. Although it is not tagged as such, the jersey measures to size 44 which is consistent to the size Havilcek used during this period of his career. The neck and arm openings are trimmed in green and white ribbing. The back has "HAVILCEK" across the shoulders and his number "17" below in white tackle twill. The jersey shows light game use with strong colors. Best of all, this classic Celtics gamer was signed by Havilcek on the front in silver pen adding 4-4-78 4-8-78". This jersey comes with a Letter of Authenticity from MEARS who have graded this piece an A6. Also included in this lot is a photograph of Havlicek presenting this jersey to our consignor.
