This framed “Classic Champion Award” was presented to basketball Hall of Famer Dave Bing in honor not only of his career on the court, but also to recognize Bing for his exceptional character and leadership qualities. Awarded to Bing in 1979 by the Syracuse Chamber of Commerce and Genesee Beer, this framed piece is centered by a bronzed image of Bing, above and inscription reading “Classic Champion Award Presented to Dave Bing – His playing ability was surpassed only by his leadership and character. He is All-American in everything.” The bottom of the frame features the quote “I choose not to be a common man, because it’s my right to be uncommon if I can.”, dated “February 12, 1979”. The bronzed framing is mounted on a purple felt backdrop inside a 19X23” wooden frame (which itself requires some repair). The framed award is accompanied by an LOA from Dave Bing.
