The players often become fans at the Major League All-Star game and getting your teammates autographs is a popular pre-game clubhouse practice. At his fourth All-Star game in 1987 eventual NL MVP Andre Dawson made the rounds gathering signatures on his 1987 All-Star Game bat. This 34-inch, 32-ounce Rawlings/Adirondack Big Stick P302 model bat was issued to Dawson for the game and has number “431B” and Dawson’s “AD” initials engraved in its knob end. The bat is signed by 23 of Dawson’s NL All-Star teammates in the same bright green sharpie including: Rick Sutcliffe, Ozzie Virgil, Steve Bedrosian, Lee Smith, Pedro Guerrero, Ryne Sandberg, Sid Fernandez, Mike Schmidt, Dale Murphy, Eric Davis, Ozzie Smith, Hubie Brooks, Bo Diaz, Juan Samuel, Tony Gwynn, Tim Raines, Willie McGee, Daryl Strawberry, Orel Hershiser, Jeffre Leonard, Tim Wallach, Jack Clark, Mike Scott, and Houston Astros manager Hal Lanier who served as a coach. Shiny lacquered un-used bat comes with a notarized letter of authenticity from Dawson. Full LOA from JSA.
