While it’s difficult to pick one season that stands out from Derek Jeter’s remarkable 20 year career with the New York Yankees, 2000 would have to be a favorite for Jeter and his fans. Although he missed a handful of games in the middle of May, Jeter had one of the most productive seasons of his career hitting a team-high .339 with 201 hits, 15 home runs and 73 RBI. He was voted to his third consecutive All-Star team and named the game’s MVP knocking three hits including the game-winning, two-run single and became the first Yankee to win the All-Star game MVP award. The Yankees won the World Series for the third consecutive year defeating the New York Mets in the first “Subway Series” in 44 years while Jeter hit .409 with two home runs, two doubles and a triple, winning the Series MVP award, and becoming the first player with win the All-Star game and Series MVP awards in the same season. Jeter wore this size-48 Russell Athletic Yankees road jersey during the 2000 season. Distinguished by an elastic black armband sewn onto the left sleeve as a memorial tribute to Hall of Fame pitcher and former Yankees manager Bob Lemon who died during the off-season, the traditional road jersey also has with navy blue and white piping circling both sleeve ends. Jeter’s number “2” is in navy blue and white tackle twill on the back with an MLB logo patch on the back collar. “NEW YORK” is stitched across the front in the same navy blue and white tackle twill and an MLB Authentic Russell Athletic manufacturer’s label is affixed to the left front tail with size “46” and “2” Extra Length flag tags and a “YO” strip tag. Early jerseys for Derek Jeter are in short supply, especially those used in a World Series Champs season; comes with Yankees-Steiner Collectibles LOA.
