Named for longtime Montreal Expos fan and sports collector Carey Diab, Canada’s Mr. Baseball Perpetual Trophy was created in 1969 and presented annually to the Montreal Expos team RBI leader whose names were added to the trophy each year until 1988. This 14” x 15” plaque contains an 8” x 10” color photo of the actual trophy and is surrounded by the names of its recipients and their annual RBI leading totals on miniature 1” x 1 ¾” black and gold metallic tiles. “Trophee Perpetuel – Perpetual Trophy Carey Diab Canada’s Mr. Baseball” is engraved on an 8” x 1 ¾” black and gold name nameplate running across the top. This particular plaque was presented to Andre Dawson whose name appears on it three times for his RBI leading totals of 92 in 1979, 113 in 1983 and 78 in 1986. Coco Laboy was the first recipient of the award for his 83 RBI with the fledgling franchise in 1969. Other recipients of the award include: Rusty Staub (1970-1971), Ron Fairly (1972) Ken Singleton (1973) Willie Davis (1974) Gary Carter (1975, 1980, 1984), Larry Parrish (1976), Tony Perez (1977, 1978) Al Oliver (1982) Hubie Brooks (1985) Tim Wallach (1987) and Andres Gallaraga. Two-tiered wooden plaque is in stellar condition and comes with a notarized letter of authenticity from Andre Dawson.
