Further evidence of Andre Dawson’s good nature, “The Hawk” was presented this Victor Award. The sports equivalent to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Oscars the Victor is presented annually in “recognition of outstanding achievements in American professional and amateur athletics while fulfilling needs of our wounded veterans and their families. This 19.5”, 13 lb., shimmering golden trophy of an Olympic Athlete hoisting an open-ended wreath of laurelled leaves bears a striking resemblance to the Oscar, mounted on a heavy black marble base ringed with a golden band containing the following engraved text: “Twenty Second Annual Victor Awards Andre Dawson Baseball Voted By The National Academy Of Sports Editors And Broadcasters Presented By Sportsmen’s Club-City of Hope 1988.” This attention grabbing trophy remains in excellent condition and comes with a notarized letter of authenticity from Andre Dawson.
