The 1988 mid-summer classic marked Andre Dawson’s fifth of eight All-Star Game appearances coming on the heels of his spectacular 1987 NL MVP season. “The Hawk” was hitting .308 with 15 home runs and 47 RBI at the All-Star break and went 1-2 in the National League’s 2-1 loss to the AL. Oakland A’s catcher Terry Steinbach was named the game’s MVP hitting a solo home run off Dwight Gooden and driving in the game-winning run with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth at Cincinnati’s Riverfront Stadium on July 12, 1988. This size-10 Jostens ring features a golden baseball inlay on ruby red gemstone and has “Major League All-Star” engraved around the top with the Cincinnati Reds 1988 All-Star Game logo in relief on one shank and the National League shield logo in relief on the other side. The interior band is stamped with “Jostens QGT” This is the actual ring issued to Andre Dawson and comes with a notarized letter of authenticity from Dawson.
