There was no other athlete more popular than Babe Ruth during the 1930s and his signature is still one of the most sought after in the sports memorabilia industry. Ruth was also known for penning his signature for sick children. This ball was signed to bedridden Skippy Dalley, who was recovering in the hospital from a tonsillectomy in 1933. Not often is there a bold version of Ruth’s signature and offered here is a tremendous baseball signed and inscribed by Babe Ruth in bold black steel tip fountain pen. Ruth’s bold signature runs along the side panel and into the sweet spot of this Wilson Boys Amateur baseball. This 1930s era baseball has also been inscribed “To Skippy Dalley” by Ruth above his signature. The ball shows signs of age but is still in good condition and Ruth’s signature on this baseball is as clear as any offered. This exceptional baseball comes with full letters of authenticity from PSA/DNA (E61629) and JSA (B16977). Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price of this lot and all lots in this auction to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.
