Situated upon the sweet spot is Ruth's curvaceous, black fountain-pen signature and, on an adjacent panel, is Gehrig's flowing autograph (also scripted in black ink, and accompanied by an inscription in his hand). The white, intermittently and lightly soiled sphere features well-preserved manufacturer's stampings with alternating blue and red laces.
