Already a three-time Gold Glove catcher with the Montreal Expos, Gary Carter brought a wealth of skill to the position and this Mizuno 32.5-inch (circumference) catcher’s mitt when he joined the New York Mets in 1985. Putting your hand inside this thick and cushiony slab of leather feels like shaking hands with the Hall of Fame catcher. Weathered and worn mitt exhibits evidence of outstanding use with a well-pounded pocket tanned and torn by repeated impact of Dwight Gooden fastballs and scuff marks along the fingertip line and webbing from digging breaking balls out of the dirt. Natural leather toned glove is constructed of tanned cowhide tied with rawhide laces and features a conventional closed back and wrist strap with Mizuno manufacturer’s label and Carter’s facsimile signature embroidered in black on the back of the thumb near a circular “Trophy Cup” logo. Carter signed the glove on its back thumb segment in bold black sharpie with the following inscription: “My 1st glove used as a Met during the 1985 baseball season!” Amazing piece of Mets memorabilia comes with full PSA/DNA LOA #1G00186 and PSA/DNA Certification #X52326. Also Comes with LOA from his marketing agent MC Sports who received this personally from Carter.
