It was not hard to measure the immediate impact the acquisition of Gary Carter had on the New York Mets in 1985. In his first game with his new team Carter hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning on a frigid April 9th Opening Day. With one swing of the bat Carter had established the Mets as legitimate pennant contenders and a force to be reckoned with for years to come. Carter would go on to hit 32 home runs with 100 RBI and be elected to his seventh straight all-star team, winning his fourth Silver Slugger Award and finishing sixth in NL MVP voting in his memorable first season with the Mets. Carter wore this American Baseball Cap Company size 7 ¼ dark blue New York Mets batting helmet with an orange interlocking NY logo decal on the front during his first season with the team. Scuffed and scratched helmet displays plenty of evidence of game us with plenty of dirt caked around a re-glued headband with a manufacturer’s size tag on the inside of the helmet and locks of Carter’s hair clinging to the interior padding. Carter’s name is label-taped on the top of the bill and back of the helmet underneath the ABC 3manufacturer’s logo. Carter signed the bill in bold black sharpie with a “My first helmet as a Met” and “1985” inscriptions. Helmet comes with photo-copy/photo match of Carter wearing the cap backwards as part of his catcher’s gear, J.T. Sports LOA and PSA/DNA certification #X52329. Also Comes with LOA from his marketing agent MC Sports who received this personally from Carter.
