Ever heard of the "Greg Pruitt Rule"? Well, it bans tear-away jerseys and was named after the crafty Browns/Raiders running back who tried to resist his opponents' grasp with flimsy jersey fabric! Pruitt's other claims to fame are that he was the 1972 Heisman Trophy runner-up, a four-time Pro Bowler, and a 1999 College Football Hall of Fame inductee—plus the winner of the 1979 athletic challenge TV show called ABC's Superstars. Offered is a Greg Pruitt Super Bowl XVIII ring with 23 diamonds. Sparkling white gold ring remains in outstanding condition with three football shaped large diamond clusters on its face in recognition of the Raiders three Super Bowl victories. “Los Angeles Raiders” and “World Champions” are engraved in raised relief at the top and bottom of the ring’s bezel which also contains five large diamonds on the right and left side. “Super Bowl XVII” is engraved across the top of the left shank above the “Raiders 38” and “Redskins 9” score of the game, flanking the Lombardi trophy rising above a “Raiders 30 Seahawks 14” score of the AFC championship game with an AFC logo, “Pride” and “1983” below. Pruitt's name and “D Back 34”are engraved on the right shank above the Raiders signature pirate-faced coat-of-arms logo with “Poise” and “1983” below. Condition of the size 10 ring is Near Mint. Ring Weighs 44 grams. Accompanied by a fantastic black wooden presentation box (6" x 4" x 2-1/2") with the plaque reading, "Presented to Greg Pruitt / Player / For your contribution to the World Champions of Professional Football / The Los Angeles Raiders." After speaking directly with Greg Pruitt we learned that he lost his original Super Bowl ring in 1997. He contacted the team and the Raiders had an authentic replacement ring made to replace the one he lost. THAT RING is the one offered in this lot. The box is also a replacement box that was produced to the same specifications of the original.
