As the slugging first baseman of the World Champion 1935 Detroit Tigers, Hank Greenberg became the first great Jewish sports star, winning the first of two American League MVP Awards. Three years later “Hammerin’ Hank” joined the greats of the game when he came within three homers of breaking Babe Ruth’s single-season mark of 60. His 58 home runs led the AL for the second time in his career and his 41 in 1940 won him his third home run crown.

1940 also saw Greenberg leading the league in RBI and doubles as he easily won his second AL MVP Award. The center brand style of this tremendous bat shows that it was manufactured for Hammering’ Hank between 1938 and 1940 - the very prime of his career. The Hillerich & Bradsby displays heavy use with a repaired handle crack. Many ball marks are seen on the barrel along with cleat imprints. Just as you want to see on a pre-war Greenberg gamer, the handle has been scored to enhance his grip. An incredible game used bat from one of the Hall of Fame’s most respected sluggers. The bat comes with a Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA (1B02473) who have graded it a GU 8.
