One of the most highly coveted team signed baseballs in the industry is presented here. The standard to which all dominant rosters will forever be compared, the 1927 New York Yankees reached an absolute pinnacle in the glorious run that the franchise realized after acquiring the game's most legendary performer. While the pinstripers had paced the American League in round-trippers in six of seven seasons since Babe Ruth's 1920 arrival, the principals in "Murderers' Row" collectively launched a record 158 circuit clouts in 1927 (with Ruth, of course, accounting for 60 of those).

Dominating in just about every statistical category, the Yanks paced the league in team batting average (.307), runs per game (6.29), runs scored (975), and hits (1,644). This offering is an OAL (Johnson) ball signed by 21 members of that vaunted squad. The lightly toned sphere shows nuances of vintage shellac coating, and retains intensely bright manufacturer's stampings throughout. The alternating red and blue laces remain prominent, and the 21 black ink signatures resonating between them read like a roll call for the most formidable lineup in the history of the game. On the sweet spot of this superb relic, "Babe" Ruth has penned a bold signature . Teammates who signed the ball's other panels include: Waite Hoyt, Bob Meusel, Lou Gehrig, Earle Combs, Ben Paschal, Joe Dugan, Herb Pennock, Wilcy Moore, Ray Morehart, Mark Koenig, Art Fletcher (coach), Urban Shocker, Johnny Grabowski, Myles Thomas, Cedric Durst, Bob Shawkey, "Dutch" Ruether, Tony Lazzeri, Benny Bengough and Pat Collins. This baseball comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AB12064). Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price of this lot and all lots in this auction to the Babe Ruth Birthplace Museum.
