Offered is a black and white team signed photograph of the inaugural 1962 New York Mets. Among the 27 signatures, all in blue marker, are Marv Throneberry (signed along the underside of the photo), Richie Ashburn (signed “Rich Ashburn) at the bottom/middle of the photo), Felix Mantilla, Cliff Cook, and Vinegar Bend Mizell. The photo has the Mets players and staff positioned along the first base line at the Polo Grounds, their temporary home while Shea Stadium was being built. The 1969 Mets season was their debut, the return of the National League to New York for the first time since the Giants and Dodgers moved west prior to the 1957 season. They went 40-120 and finished 10th and last in the National League, 60 ½ games behind the NL Champ San Francisco Giants. The had the most losses by any MLB team since the 1899 Cleveland Spiders went 20-134. This item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA.
