Offered is a unique framed album cover from a 1958 United Artists long-play recording of former MLB catcher Joe Garagiola with a full-color photo of baseball legends (from left to right) Mickey Mantle, Joe Garagiola, Stan Musial, Yogi Berra and Ken Boyer on the front cover. Mickey Mantle has signed his image from the neck down to the knees in blue marker over the white and blue Yankees home pinstriped uniform. Garagiola is in a sport coat and tie, while Musial and Boyer are in their St. Louis Cardinals white home uniforms and Boyer is in the Yankees home uniform. The background appears to be the Cardinals dugout, with Cardinals batting helmets lining the top of the dugout while some fans look on from their seats. Garagiola became a respected broadcaster and writer in the late 1950s and continuing through the 1980s. The record was made as a recording of his comments at various baseball award dinners during 1958, and was billed as “A stereo recording of Joe Garagiola, baseball’s number one toastmaster, at the dinner plate.” The black metal 13 x 13 inch frame has preserved the original album well, with no signs of wear or damage. This item comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A03408).
