Chicago Cubs infield wizard Javier Baez wore this 1969 Cubs Turn Back the Clock home uniform (including a jersey and pants) on July 16th, 2019 against the Cincinnati Reds at Wrigley Field. Baez finished the game 1-4, with Kyle Schwarber’s home run in the bottom of the 10th inning handing Chicago a walk-off 5-4 win over their division rivals. Baez finished the 2019 season with a .281 batting average, 29 homers, and 85 RBI as he led the Cubs in bWAR (6.0), doubles (38), and stolen bases (11). Baez made his second consecutive All-Star team in 2019.
The jersey offered in this lot is a pinstriped, white button-down home jersey with a large Cubs logo patch sewn on the chest. A second Cubs logo and a Majestic logo are sewn on the left sleeve, while a MLB 100th Anniversary patch is sewn on the right sleeve. Baez’s number “9” is sewn on the back of the jersey. A Majestic tag with a size “42” flag is sewn on the front left tail. This jersey comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (JD859065).
Also included are Baez’s white pinstriped throwback pants from the July 16th game. A blue Majestic logo is sewn on the upper back left leg of these dirt-stained pants. A Majestic size “35-38-27 C” tag is sewn on the back inside waistband. These pants come with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JD792703).
Finally, Baez’s bat from the July 16th game is included in this lot. The bat was cracked after Baez fouled a Jared Hughes sinker on a 3-2 count in the bottom of his eighth inning at-bat. Baez singled on the eighth pitch of his at-bat against Hughes. This offered bat is an SSK Professional Edge Javier Baez Pro Birch JB356. The cracked bat features white bat tape on the handle and a considerable amount of grip aid. The bat comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JD859062).
