Pittsburgh Penguins rookie phenom Sidney Crosby made his National Hockey League Canadian debut against the Toronto Maple Leafs on January 2nd, 2006.  Drafted 1st overall in the NHL Draft the 18-year-old Crosby, from Nova Scotia, played 17:08 minutes and recorded an assist in the Penguins 3-2 loss in overtime to the Maple Leafs. Crosby would break a franchise record during his rookie season when he recorded 63 assists and 102 points, both Penguins records previously held by Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux. Crosby became the youngest player in NHL history to achieve 100 points and finished sixth in NHL scoring on the season.
