Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Hall of Famer, in his Rookie Card appearance. Among a total of more than 900 copies recorded in PSA’s census reporting, just five specimens have been placed at a higher tier. The short-printed rookie card of Bill Russell is the undisputed "key" in its celebrated production. Additionally, it is one of the most important basketball cards ever made, and an important forerunner to the dynamism that has come to characterize the basketball card collecting specialty. Cards from Topps' 1957-58 production are typically affected by frustrating inadequacies in their presentation; most common among these are woeful print quality and obtrusive "snow" that disrupts aesthetics. Those unfortunate generalities only serve to emphasize the exceptional rendering of the offered specimen. This one excels where virtually all of its contemporaries fall short. Its printing is superb with only trivial manifestations of printing distractions. The corners are razor-sharp and, complemented by a superlative measure of gloss, accentuate the card's pack-fresh appearance. Very seldom seen or offered in this extraordinary grade! Thoroughly enviable Near Mint to Mint condition.
