Hall of Famer Cal Ripen Jr., Major League Baseball’s iron man, broke Lou Gehrig’s streak for most consecutive games played by appearing in his 2,131st contest on September 6, 1995. Ripken homered in the 4-2 victory over the California Angels. This game-used OAL Gene A. Budig baseball from that historic night features Ripken’s signature in blue ink on the sweet spot along with the autographs of the umpire crew consisting of Larry Barnett, Greg Kosc, Dan Morrison and Al Clark. That umpire crew, along with the capacity crowd, gave Ripken a 22-minute standing ovation, according to reports documenting the game. The baseball, which features heavy signs of game use, boasts a black “Ripken 8” commemorative streak stamp and comes with a PSA LOA.
