Yasiel Puig took Major League Baseball by storm in 2013, posting a .319 batting average with 19 home runs and 42 RBIs in just 104 games. Puig’s blistering numbers, beginning with his June call-up, had many pushing for his inclusion in the 2013 All-Star Game. This game-used Old Hickory 34.5-inch bat with a cupped end comes from a 4-2 win over the rival Giants on June 26. Puig went 3-for-4 in the game with a double. Puig broke this bat on a seventh-inning single off Giants reliever Sandy Rosario. An AP image search vividly shows the at-bat in progress. The bat, not surprisingly, shows heavy evidence of game use. The handle is lathered with pine tar, while the barrel boasts several ball impressions, spike marks and bat rack scuffs. The handle, where the bat was broken in two, has been bonded with a sealing agent. The barrelhead features a three-line engraving that reads “34.5 PRO MAPLE YP66,” “1305359-YP6” and “YASIEL PUIG.” The “OLD HICKORY” manufacturer’s stamp appears above the handle, while the knob of the bat features a “Los Angeles Dodgers” decal with Puig’s number “66” in the center. The game used bat comes with an MLB Authentication hologram sticker, verification number EK316493.
