Since his early departure from the earth in 1954, authentic single signed Melt Ott items are extremely scarce. As part of the exclusive 500 home run club, Ott signatures are in constant demand. Offered is a scarce single signed Melt Ott original swinging photograph, without the high leg kick, but with his name “OTT” printed along the bottom. The 7.5 x 9.5 inch (visible area) photo has several wrinkles and chips (including an area on Ott’s face), is signed in black fountain pen just to right of his image, and framed to a dimension of 14 x 21 inches. According to the JSA LOA, there is “Under magnification and enhanced lighting, it becomes apparent that an emulsion was applied to the photograph that actually surrounds the surname itself. The matched paint is also evident in the top right quadrant of the photo.” This emulsion is very faint, and in no way affects the quality or visibility of the very distinct black fountain pen “Melt Ott” signature.
