This is an extraordinary bat produced for the Big Red Machine's second baseman Joe Morgan. "Little Joe" added sparkling defense to his powerful bat during the Reds 1970's dynasty. Morgan won a remarkable back-to-back National MVP Awards in 1975 and 1976, coinciding with Cincinnati's two World Championships. This Hillerich & Bradsby bat was made for Morgan's use in the 1976 World Series but was stamped with the incorrect date of 1975 by mistake. We know this by the distinctive Bi-Centennial Liberty Bell stamp that was used by H&B only during the '76 season. As a result the bat was not shipped to Morgan for use in the historic sweep of the Yankees that fall, but somehow it was released into the hobby over the years. Although not game used by Morgan in a World Series, this is non-the-less quite a distinctive rarity in and of itself. Letter of Authenticity (1B08426) from PSA/DNA.
