Jose Abreu’s 2014 Major League Baseball debut was one of the game’s big stories this season. The Cuban transplant was the league leader in home runs (31) and RBIs (86) entering play on Aug. 11, putting him in the thick of the American League MVP conversation. This signed, game-used Cuban National Team jersey was donned by Abreu in the 2013 World Port tournament in the Netherlands, the last event in which he competed for his country before coming to the MLB. The red, lightweight button-down mesh jersey features “Cuba” across the chest with Abreu’s number “79” on the front and reverse in a blue-on-yellow felt patch design. Abreu’s signature appears on the reverse side of the jersey in black sharpie below his number. The signed, game-used jersey is without any manufacturer tags and shows light evidence of game use. The item comes with a notarized LOA signed by David Parlet, prior owner of the jersey, is PSA certified and has been verified by noted jersey expert Dave Miedema.
