Offered is a rarely seen Pittsburgh issued program of the 1925 World Series, when the Pirates came back to beat the Washington Senators in an exciting seven game series. This was Walter Johnson’s grand hurrah. The Pirates were down three games to one, before winning the last three contests, becoming the first team in World Series history to come back from a 3-1 deficit in a seven game series. (The 1903 Pirates blew a three game lead in the first ever World Series, but that Series was a nine game affair). The 1925 World Series program issued at Pittsburgh is one of the most condition sensitive of all early World Series programs. While it is of the toughest programs of the 1920s to find in any condition, it is almost impossible to find in high grade due to the very thin, easily damaged quality of its pages. The 16 page, 9 x 11 inch program features Pittsburgh's president Barney Dreyfuss on the cover, and is neatly scored for Game 6. It features pre-printed lineups including Hall of Famers Sam Rice, Bucky Harris, and Goose Goslin of the Senators, with Max Carey, Kiki Cuyler and Pie Traynor for the Pirates. Fully intact example, this example has an intact spine with a light tear near the middle, with book also exhibiting a light vertical pocket fold and very light edge stains. This extremely rare 1925 Pittsburgh World Series program is one of the nicest examples in the hobby, and is in Excellent overall condition.
