The 1927 World Series program from New York is one of the most highly prized World Series programs of all. Offered is a substantial twenty-page, large-format program issued for either Game 3 or Game 4 of the 1927 World Series between the Yankees and Pirates at Yankee Stadium. The 1927 World Series program has a very broad collecting appeal and is universally regarded as one of the most desirable of all World Series programs. As was standard practice, the cover features large portrait images of each club's respective manager, Miller Huggins and Owen Bush, while the interior pages include photos of league and team officials, as well as portraits of 25 members of both the Yankees and Pirates. The pre-printed lineups include Ruth, Gehrig, Lazzeri, Meusel, Combs, and Pennock for New York, and P. Waner, L. Waner, and Traynor for Pittsburgh. The program is unscored in pencil but is quite possibly from the deciding Game 4, as an original partial newspaper clipping is also included with “Yankees WIN” across the top, with a batter by batter description of that Game 4, a 4-3 Yankee victory. Interestingly the winning run scored in the bottom of the 9th, with Earle Combs scoring from third on a wild pitch. The Yankees, bolstered by a powerful and legendary lineup, which will forever be known as "Murderers' Row," swept the Pirates in the 1927 World Series, thus cementing their reputation as the greatest team of all time. The program (9.25 x 11 inches) is perfectly flat and displays light to moderate wear to the covers and a two-inch tear form the bottom edge of the spine. The pages primarily are clean and bright, and remain an extremely attractive example of one of the most desirable of all World Series programs. Overall Excellent condition.
