October Legends Closing November 1

In a rematch of their 1926 Fall Classic confrontation, the New York Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals did October battle again in 1928. Avenging a seven-game series loss in the former showdown, the Bronx Bombers pummeled Redbird Hall of Famers Pete Alexander and Jessie Haines en route to a convincing four-game sweep—their second straight in World Series play. This neatly scored 9.25 x 11 inch program was issued at Game One at Yankee Stadium. The 18-page publication features cameo portraits of the opposing skippers on the colorful cover, and the pages within contain black-and-white player images and biographical takes, while the pre-printed lineup cards at the center list the principals of both squads including Ruth and Gehrig. The cover has the date “October 4, 1928” at the top border, several corner creases, and two areas of rust where it appears staples once were attached. While the spine is tight and secure, several inner pages have either some light paper loss or tapes remnants, while the back cover has both paper loss and tape along with some black construction paper still attached form prior adherence to a scrap book. Overall Very Good condition.
