The appropriately titled 1930 book “Babe Ruth: The Idol of the American Boy” by Daniel M. Daniel, sports writer for the New York Telegram, perfectly captured the essence of every young fan’s baseball hero. This 5x7.5-inch hardback copy of the book, signed by Ruth flawlessly in pencil on page 12, carries a unique back story. The inside front cover features a note that reads: “To my Grandson, George S. Kowats, From Grandma Kowats, who obtained this book and the Babe’s autograph at Sportsmans Park St. Louis long before you were born. Preserved this book for my first grandson, you my dear. See page 12.” The 108-page book, produced by Whitman Publishing Company of Racine, Wis., remains in solid condition for its age, showing only minimal wear around the edges and some wrinkling in the spine. The pages remain in near-perfect condition. The signed book comes with PSA/DNA certification.
