Before the Food and Drug Administration was created, and government regulations manifested itself on American society, it appeared every town and county druggist has their own homemade remedies for all sorts of ailments. Many of these remedies were marketed as cure alls, and to compete with everyone else a druggist needed to market his tonics. One marketed item, Clark’s Cordial….Stomach Bitters has their advertisement overprinted on to the reverse of this standard 1910 Piedmont card of Cy Barger. The card grades GD to VG without the overprint, which gives the reverse a stomach turning effect, likely helped by some stomach bitters. Uniquely overprinted T206 card, the first of this nature we have ever seen.
