Likely produced in 1991 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Joe DiMaggio’s tremendous 1941 season, which he won the Most Valuable Player Award and led the New York Yankees to another World Series title, this ring is only one of THREE rings produced. This extremely rare Joe DiMaggio ring was developed by one of DiMaggio's marketing agents, who had intended to mass-market the ring. Unfortunately, the project never progressed and this ring is one of only a three samples made at the time. An LOA accompanying this ring states “the ring was acquired directly from the man who handled the design of the ring.” Crafted by the renowned jewelry firm Jostens, the size 0.75/43.1 gram 10K gold ring features the number "5" on the front surrounded by approximately twenty-seven small diamonds. "Most Valuable Player - American League 1941" is lettered around the front border. The left shank displays a baseball upon the letters "BBWAA" (Baseball Writers Association of America). Lettered above the ball is the phrase "THE PLAYER," and below the word "NONPAREIL." The right shank features the New York Yankees "NY" logo, above which is DiMaggio's full name, "JOSPEH PAUL DIMAGGIO," and below which is his position, "CENTERFIELD." All of the lettering is done in relief. Josten's logo and copyright emblem, along with the notation "10K," are engraved on the interior band. This is a tremendous ring, which appeared to have a bright marketing future, but was shelved for unknown reasons. As a result, this is one of THREE rings produced, is extremely rare and remains in Near Mint condition.
