Before he became a star center fielder for the Kansas City Royals, Amos Otis worked his way up the minor league ladder for the New York Mets organization. In 1969, Otis helped the Tidewater Tides win a division title in the International League. Not only did the Miracle Mets upset the vaunted Baltimore Orioles for the World Series title, their top minor league squad was winning titles, too! The size 9.5/22.5 gram ring has a small real diamond on top surrounded by “1969 TIDEWATER CHAMPIONS” in raised relief. One shank has the name “A. OTIS” etched into a banner above a crossed bat baseball motif. The other shank has “INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE” etched on a banner above with two players and “IL” for the league. Inside is stamped “JOSTENS 10K”. Despite the years, this ring continues to present well, and remains in excellent to mint condition.
