Former Boston Red Sox All-Star center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury was coming off a spectacular 2011 season in which he hit 32 home runs with 105 RBI, 46 doubles, 39 stolen bases, a .321 batting average and an American League leading 364 total bases when he wore this MLB Authentic, white mesh Red Sox home jersey (#EK055062) in a game against Tampa Bay on April 13, 2012. Ellsbury hit a single and a double that day driving in a run and scoring another in the Red Sox 12-2 thrashing of the Rays but he dislocated his right shoulder sliding into second in the bottom of the fourth inning and this jersey would be the last one he’d wear in a game for the next three months. With the exception of some slight dirt staining on the front, probably from the slide that dislocated his shoulder, the bright white, button-down jersey with ventilated sleeves looks almost new. There are some light dirt stains on both sleeves. Boston is written across the front in red and black tackle twill and Ellsbury‘s number two is on the same fashion on the back. A green “1912 Fenway Park 100 Years” anniversary patch is on the right shoulder and red piping runs around the collar and alongside the buttons. There is a small MLB logo patch on the back exterior collar and a small Majestic logo embroidered on the left sleeve. An MLB Authentic/Majestic manufacturers label sticker is on the front left tail with a “2 44 ‘12” strip tag patch attached and a Cool Base flag tag at the seam. MLB Authenticated.
