Seldom has the arrival of a rookie pitcher been greeted with such fanfare as when Japanese free-agent Masahiro Tanaka joined the New York Yankees this year. Coming off a 24-0 season with a 1.27 ERA and a 3-0 record in the Japan Series for the Pacific League champion Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles, the Yankees shelled out big bucks for Tanaka, signing the five-time Nippon Professional Baseball All-Star to a seven-year $155 million contract. Tanaka got off to a great start winning his first game with an eight-strikeout performance against the Blue Jays at Toronto on April 4. This 16” x 4” MLB Authentic locker room nameplate (#HZ102678) hung above Tanaka’s locker on Opening Day at Yankee Stadium on April 7, 2014 and has Tanaka’s number 19 at the far left. His full name is spelled out in Yankees navy blue block letters under a cursive New York Yankees logo and the Yankees interlocking NY logo is superimposed over an aerial Yankee Stadium backdrop at the far right; comes with Steiner Sports Memorabilia LOA.
