This six-foot long by 10-inch wide horizontal sign must have been located somewhere to the left of Yankee Stadium as a drawing of a hand with its finger pointing to the right is at the far right of the sign reading: “Yankee Stadium.” This circa 1940 period piece is painted blue and white in conjunction with the team and stadium colors. Although the paint is slightly chipped and peeling, the sign remains perfectly legible and looking at it brings a feeling of pre-game anticipation. While its origins are unknown it may have hung near a subway station or bus stop, obviously a place where ballpark traffic flowed.
