In what was what George Steinbrenner called his biggest mistake, the Yankees lost Reggie Jackson to the California Angels in 1982. Out of the harsh spotlight of the big apple and back in his home state of California, Jackson embarked on the third phase of storied career. In 1985, the season to which this bat dates to, Reggie reached the rare milestone of 500 career home runs, this all but solidifying his berth in baseball's Hall of Fame. A striking looking two-tone bat from the late, great period of Reggie's career. Jackson's Adirondack 288RJ model bat shows excellent use with a crack on the back of the handle. Many ball marks and stitch impressions can be seen on the barrel along with impressive ball and stitch imprints. A moderate coat of pine tar coats the handle. The model number "288RJ" and order number "249" is stamped into the knob end. Reggie's immortal "44" has been hand written on the knob in black. The hall of Famer has signed the bat between the center brand and stamped endorsement in silver pen, adding number "44". A tremendous game used example from one of modern baseball's great personalities and talents. Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA who have given this bat a grade of GU 7 (E36394).
