Coming towards the end of his monumental 22-year career, Randy Johnson struggled through an injury riddled 2007 campaign going 4-3 with a 3.81 ERA in 10 starts spanning 56 innings, but the writing was already on the wall and perhaps cast into his Hall of Fame Plaque. The writing is on this pair of size 13 game worn Nike Cleats that Johnson wore as a member of the 2007 Diamondbacks as well. Johnson signed each of these big bad black and white Nike swoosh cleats in bold silver Sharpie with inscriptions reading: “Big Unit,” “Game Used,” “5x CY” and added “303-4,875” (his career win and strikeout totals) to the right shoe. These custom designed cleats have Johnson’s number 51 embroidered on their heels and upper tongues with Nike WHQ Sample Room manufacturers tags dated 4/05/07 on each inner tongue and show moderate to heavy game use carrying a heavy load of pitcher’s mound dirt on their soles’ although the exterior leather remains well-conditioned; comes with Mears and JSA LOAs and letter of provenance signed by Johnson.
