Off the field they were yin and yang, complete opposites in respect to personality and bravado. Ruth loved his nightlife, while Sweets Lou enjoyed his time at home with Eleanor. However, things were different ON the field as they provided a one-two punch unlike any other in baseball history. This baseball is signed by both Babe Ruth on the sweet spot (“6/10”), and Lou Gehrig on the side panel (“4/10”), their customary spots on dual signed baseballs. The signature of Cy Perkins adorns another side panel. Perkins was a long time Major League catcher, who teamed with Ruth and Gehrig on the 1931 New York Yankees. The ball is a creamy-white OAL Barnard ball, dating to 1927-1931, well with the time frame of all signatures. That 1931 team was something else, and even though the Yankees finished second in the American League that season to the Philadelphia A’s, they contributed to the Major League record of team runs scored in a season with 1,067 highlighted by the 92 combined home runs and 347 runs batted in by the dynamic duo of Ruth and Gehrig. Tremendous Ruth and Gehrig signed baseball which displays as a dual. Full LOA from PSA/DNA, cert number V03143.
