This has happened to everyone – and you usually panic. You are traveling and forget to bring your wallet and are short on cash – in fact you have none on your person. But when you are the famous Jackie Robinson, you never break a sweat…or likely have to show any identification.

Historic sports icon and future baseball Hall of Famer Jackie Robinson might have been short on cash one day while staying at the “Hotel Roosevelt”. So on "2-28-61" Jackie cashed this check for "$25.00" at the “Hotel Roosevelt” in New York. However, this is not a Jackie Robinson check per se, but a “Hotel Roosevelt” credit voucher “check” which Robinson guarantees said amount of $25.00 is on deposit at his own personal bank. Robinson filled out the entire check in his own hand, boldly signing his name “Jack Robinson" on the front and the verso. In addition, Robinson as printed his personal bank “First National City” and indicated his home address in Stamford, Ct. Both signatures are boldly signed in blue in and unaffected by any cancellations. This item has been authenticated, graded and encapsulated by PSA/DNA MINT 9, and indicated as part of the original John Blattner Collection of signed checks. A tremendous double-signed Jackie Robinson item. Check measures 3-5/16 x 8-5/16 inches.
