One of the youngest general managers in the history of Major League Baseball, Steve Phillips directed the New York Mets to their most recent World Series appearance in 2000 against the rival Yankees. Phillips helped assemble a team that featured the likes of Mike Piazza, Al Leiter, Mike Hampton and Edgardo Alfonzo, through the group eventually lost in five games to the Bronx Bombers. Phillips signed the game-used baseball in black ink on the east panel. All manufacturers’ markings on the Rawlings baseball are clearly visible, though the 2000 World Series logo is smeared due to game use. The signed baseball comes with a JSA LOA and a PSA/DNA COA, verification number “W89035.”
