Prior to his late-season call-up to the Atlanta Braves in 1993, future Hall-of-Fame third baseman Chipper Jones spent a year in the minors tearing the cover off the baseball for the franchise’s Triple-A affiliate in Richmond, Virginia. Jones signed this rare game-used “Turn Back the Clock” edition of the Richmond Braves jersey, which is a tribute to the 1960's Richmond Virginians, in bold, silver sharpie on the reverse side number “10.” The cream flannel button-down jersey features a stitched felt navy blue “V” on the left chest and Jones’ number “10” on the back. A stitched Richmond logo patch appears on the left sleeve. The inside collar of the jersey features an “Ebbetts Field Flannels” manufacturer’s tag, size XL. Jones can be seen wearing the jersey in a Pepsi team-issued card included in this lot, which was graded near mint by PSA. The signed jersey includes a signed letter from Steve Barden, Richmond’s clubhouse manager in 1993, who personally received the jersey from Jones. The signed jersey, which shows light evidence of game use, also comes with COAs from Schwartz Sports and PSA/DNA (verification number “W89037”), and deemed authentic by noted sports jersey expert Dave Miedema.
