Stan Musial was one of the greatest hitters in baseball history, and one of the most revered ballplayers of all time. Two reasons he was affectionately referred to as “The Man.” This ONL Ford Frick baseball exhibits nice game use, and is boldly signed on a side panel “Stan Musial SAT. MAY 29, 1948 AT FORBES FIELD.” Also inscribed on the ball’s sweet spot is “A Great Catch Best Wishes Les.” On this date, Musial was 2 for 4, a triple and one RBI, boosting his season average to .402. He also made three putouts in left field, one which might have been a “great catch.” This was one of Musial’s greatest seasons, where he led the league in 11 different offensive categories; including hits, doubles, triples, RBI and winning the triple slash Triple Crown (BA, OBP & SLG). It was also a season where he was batting over .400 as late as July 11, and won his third NL MVP award. Tremendous game used Stan Musial item. COA from PSA/DNA, cert number X10606.
