When one of the scarcest and highest desirable items in the baseball collecting hobby becomes available, it is undoubtedly going to receive a tremendous amount of publicity, generate a high hammer price, and lead to other similar items to come to market. In our October Legends auction a year ago, we presented and sold the highest graded Jimmie Foxx single signed baseball in existence. The record price we generated for our consignor has brought out several single signed Foxx baseball to our auctions, our latest presented example is boldly signed “Jimmie Foxx” across the sweet spot in blue steel tip fountain pen on a OAL Harridge baseball, which has very faint original stampings. The solid signature grades (“6/10”) in strength with some light spotting. Since Foxx passed away in 1967, demand for his signed baseballs far exceed to available supply, and most of the “500 Home Run Club” single signed want lists do not have a line through the Foxx name. A very tough single. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication, cert number Y06217.
