He was one of the greatest players of all time, providing plenty of excitement on the field with this tremendous competitiveness and tenacity, and much more excitement off the field with those same attributes. Cobb passed away on July 17, 1961, but a month earlier Cobb delivered this single signed baseball to a fan of his. This creamy-toned OAL Joe Cronin baseball with solid stampings has been boldly signed in blue ballpoint pen on a side panel “To Crawford From Ty Cobb 6/8/61” adding the ubiquitous paraph below his name. The ball contains several stains, none of which affect this late in life signature and inscription. Signed baseballs from Cobb are highly desirable, but this beautiful end of life signature to a fan offers up a new prospective of Cobb from the way he lived his life on and off the field during his tremendous career. Full LOA from PSA/DNA, cert number W03217.
