The 1996 World Series marked a return to glory for a New York Yankees team that had not won the Series in almost 20 years dating back to the days of Reggie and Guidry in 1978. This team-signed reunion ball carries the signatures of 18 members of the 1996 World Series champion team including: manager Joe Torre who added a “WS Champs” inscription on sweet spot, as well as coaches Chris Chambliss and Mel Stottlemyre, and: Bernie Williams with a “SDG” (Solo a Dios la Gloria: Only to God the Glory) inscription, Mariano Rivera, Paul O’Neil, Andy Pettitte, John Wetteland, Doc Gooden and Daryl Strawberry (who were also teammates on the 1986 N.Y. Mets World Series champion team 10 years prior) and: David Cone, Joe Girardi, Charlie Hayes who added as “Last out 96 W.S.” inscription, Wade Boggs with an “H o F 05” inscription, Jim Leyritz with a “+13” inscription, Cecil Fielder with a “45” inscription, and Tino Martinez with a “24” inscription. All signatures are in sharp, crisp blue ballpoint point pen and the baseball is in extraordinary condition. Authenticated by Steiner Sports
