To commemorate their historic 1961 season, a limited edition bat was produced and signed by Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris. Offered is a pristine example of this Mantle and Maris signed limited-edition H&B bat produced in 1984. Limited to a run of 115 bats (total of their combined HRs in 1961), this item is revered as the greatest possible dual signed Mantle/Maris piece ever created. These bats are extremely popular, and due to their initial scarcity and the relative lack of examples which change hands, when one comes to auction, the interest is steep. Each player’s facsimile signature is "burned" into the barrel, with the amount of home runs hit just below. Next to the Maris label is stamped "LIMITED EDITION 42 of 115" (MLB’s only overall retired jersey number), making this bat a uniquely dual signed item. The bat features bold, blue Sharpie signatures of Mantle and Maris scripted directly below their individual barrel stampings. This item is well-known in hobby circles as being a highly desirable item and rarely offered at auction. The bat measures 35 inches, weighs 31 ounces, has "A92" and “M110” stamped on the knob and is in Near Mint condition. Full LOA from PSA/DNA, cert number V06218.
