Hall of Fame catcher Mickey Cochrane, was a member of Connie Mack’s great Philadelphia Athletics from 1925-1933, making three consecutive World Series appearances from 1929-1931 and played for the two time American League champion Detroit Tigers in 1934 and 1935 winning the World Series in the latter year. In his post playing days he authored a book; Baseball the Fan’s Game published by Funk and Wagnalls in 1939. He may have been referencing his manuscript in this undated letter written by Cochrane in steel tip fountain pen on a plain piece of off-white paper which read as follows: Dear Mr. Edwards, Am enclosing a copy of the material for record, wish you would give it the once over and see how it sounds. We are in Washington Wed. & Thursday. Will be home Friday. Wish you would call me and give me your views on it. Cynwyd 3189-W. Also any changes you think necessary. Yours truly, Mickey Cochrane This clearly legible letter is in excellent condition and comes with JSA LOA certification #B19389
